The setting the riverbank building & lawns

The riverbank building can host up to 70 guests for a lovely afternoon evening reception where you can invite caterers in and supply drinks for your guests.  There is enough furniture for seating for all guests right there on the banks on the river where they can soak up the water views.  Typically receptions have a lovely picnic atmosphere with guests wandering about the extensive riverbank lawns, perhaps enjoying some lawn games, chatting with others,  whilst watching boats go by the beautiful river.

All receptions close by 9.30pm.

Receptions by the Murray

As the sun drops over the Murray and the ceremony gives way to celebration, the riverbank building at Paradise Gardens becomes the heart of the evening. Whether you’re planning a full sit-down affair or a casual grazing table with drinks in hand, the riverbank space adapts to however you want to celebrate your wedding day.  Fairy lights, long tables and the sound of the river close by set a relaxed, picnic-style atmosphere that carries guests from drinks and canapes right through to dancing under the stars.

This type of garden/river reception is one of a kind, it is such a beautiful unique location with both the stunning garden to enjoy and the beautiful large lawn area right along the riverbank where you and your guests can soak up the natural beauty of the site.

What’s included

Your reception

  • The day before, tooAll wedding bookings include access to the venue the day before the wedding so you can rehearse and set up any decorations, special signs etc. for your reception by the river.
  • Set up your wayFurniture can be laid out in the river building as per your preference, and often the garden umbrellas are also set up on the river lawns. If you would like, we can also set up lawn games for your guests to enjoy.
  • CateringYou can invite your preferred caterer in and supply a mix of drinks for your guests — we can provide you a list of excellent caterers.
  • Up to 70 guestsYou are welcome to have up to 70 guests enjoy a reception by the river under roof, with all tables and seating provided. We also have a large urn available, should you offer tea and coffee to your guests.
  • Morning-of preparationOn the morning of the wedding, you also have access to finish off any preparations you need.
  • Into the eveningIn the afternoon the ceremony can be anywhere from 2pm onwards, with the reception following into the evening and closing by 9.30pm.
  • No rush to pack upNo need to pack up everything that night, as you can return the next day to gather your belongings at your convenience.
  • Optional extrasWe have 4 large garden umbrellas available for hire at $50 each.
